Clothbound Beauties

I love books. There are only a few things I love more than books. When I was a kid, I would get more excited running through the aisles of books at Barnes and Noble, than I ever did at Toys R Us. By the way, the way Toys R Us is spelled has always bothered me, even as a child I knew it was promoting illiteracy in children across America. Anyway, now that we have that little fun fact, I can go on with my post about books. It's one of my new goals, to read and purchase classics. I am a book buyer. I don't remember the last time I went to the library, sad I know, but I just can't bring myself to return a book after it has been read, so I buy books. And no, it's not a waste of money because I usually read them more than once. Books are comforting to me. Once I'm finished reading a book, I'm so excited, but there is that little bit of sadness that takes awhile to go away until I find another book that I can't wait to immerse myself in. I'm reading a set of books right now, but I'm already dreading the day that I finish the last book. I'm still sulking over finishing The Time Traveler's Wife, and that was like 7 books ago.

But like I said, I'm making it a point to have some of the classics, and while I was on Anthropologie looking for a pair of boots to swoon over I came across these stunning cloth bound books of 6 classics. I've read all or part of five of them. I have 2 copies of Sense and Sensibility and my favorite book of all time Pride and Prejudice. I purchased the Jane Austen Complete Novels Penguin Classic Deluxe Addition when I was a Sophomore in college. I decided that instead of choosing eight poems to dissect, I would choose eight Jane Austen novels. So I blew through eight Jane Austen Novels, not stopping to really enjoy any of them except for Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice, which I had previously read anyway. I'm planning on rereading the other six books. So while I already have both of the Jane Austen novels that are available cloth bound, I want another copy, which would bring my total to three of the same book. And like I've said, I just can't bring myself to get rid of the other copies.

The cloth bound books available at Anthropologie are: The Picture of Dorian Gray (one of my favorites as a child), Sense and Sensibility, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, and Great Expectations.

Great Expectations is at the top of my list because it's the only one that I haven't cracked open, and then maybe Dorian Gray because it's the only other one I don't own.

They are so beautiful! Go take a look!

Dreamy

Well I'm secluded to the bed today trying to get rid of a headache that has been plaguing me since last night. I'm can finally feel it start to go away, but it's already 2:30, and that means I've practically wasted the day in bed. It gave me a chance to work on booking another Boudoir Session, and work on some other Boudoir stuff that I've been meaning to do, but took a back seat to all the other stuff that has been going on these last couple weeks. The headache is a result of stress due to something not working right yesterday. It's sad really that things like that ruin my day so easily. Now two days actually. But I wasn't completely worthless as I got a few things done from bed, and then later, I'm going to attempt to get the Christmas card templates downloaded that I tried to get downloaded yesterday with no luck. I need Josh's support for that. Maybe more like someone to yell at when I can't get it figured out. That poor guy is the sweetest husband.
I came across some of these dreamy photos while visiting my favorite blog, Coco & Kelley this morning, like I do every day, numerous times a day. I had to take a look at more of Maude Arsenault's work for myself. Enjoy, and hopefully I will be back in working order tomorrow! Have a wonderful Monday afternoon!

Light and Airy

As a general rule, which many of you who read this blog know by now, if there is anything expensive to love, I find it. And while it's great to have expensive taste, there's nothing wrong with wanting good quality stuff, it doesn't fit within my budget 99% of the time. So I'm left with finding ways to improvise. I'm all for having one expensive piece, and a piece that I can compromise with that is a little more practical in the price area. Although, again as many of you know, I am anything but practical.

Case in point, I have a beautiful homemade desk my father- in- law built me in place of a desk I found at World Market for (I think it was $100). I don't know how much my desk cost to make, it doesn't matter. I love it, I can stand at it and still work perfectly. It has built in file drawers, and a book shelf on the other side. It's pretty perfect. The top is laminate so I can't ruin the desk if I write on a piece of paper. And on that desk is a $100 "Photographer's Task Table Lamp" I do have my priorities straight. A beautiful lamp that was purchased by my MIL and Josh's grandma for my birthday this year. Yes, I'm pretty much surrounded by the best gift givers in the world. Have I mentioned the World Market entry table we own in the living room given to us two Christmases ago by my mom? I'm loving the "piece of furniture every year for Christmas" thing. I'm hoping for a sofa or entertainment center this year.

Now that you've been told about my expensive taste, and my impracticality I can get to my point for the day. For our new bedroom, (the first time we've ever been able to paint might I add) I wanted to go for something light and airy. I am a huge fan of color in a room, thus the reason we are going for red on the walls in our living room. Forget having a cohesive look for the whole house, I like so many different styles, every room will have a different feel. Like I said, the bedroom I'm going for a light and airy look. As much as I like color, I also like non colors as well. My wardrobe is a testament to that. 90% of what I own is gray, black or white. A little navy blue is in there too. I'm a fan of classic looks, but I know I need to add a little color. Even the four items I bought two weeks ago while I a shopping trip were gray. Gray skinny jeans, which by the way are a size 2, just saying, 1 gunmetal gray top that has pockets in the front, and a gray leopard print blouse... and black booties. Sorry, I'm off topic again. As you can see, I like my gray. So what better color to paint the bedroom than gray? I believe that bedrooms are a sanctuary. I want our bedroom to be peaceful, a place to re energize and relax.

I've decided to go with a light gray, the color I chose, I think is a little too light, you can't tell that it's gray, but I think I have the perfect gray picked out now. I've picked out a really girly bedding, much to Josh's disappointment, so I'm going to offset the girliness with a few pops of a Kelly green type color. I don't know what I can use that's green, but I'm definitely on the hunt.I love the color green, its not too feminine, and I do have to remember sometimes that I have a husband. A husband who oddly cares about the interior look of the house. He cares about the weirdest stuff. He has fabulous taste. Case in point, our dining table, and the tuxes at our wedding. I told him what I liked, he was in agreement, walked into the shop all confident, said, "this shirt, this tie, this tux, and these shoes." We left 15 minutes later. We agreed on those two things, and have yet to agree on anything else :)

So because I am going to make him suffer with white bedding, with frilly gray detail, I'm going to use some green in there too, and the green is a go... At least it was the last time I talked to him. I'm also on the hunt for end tables for the bedroom. I was thinking white, but then I came across mirrored furniture, and fell in love. I'm doubting Josh will go for that, but I'm going to try to slip them in. They are a little modern, but I think they will work. Although, the ones I want are $400 dollars... A piece. So I will need to be on the look out for something reasonable.

To finish off the look I need a huge piece of art for behind the bed, to act as a headboard, and some sheer curtains. And if our room was big enough I would have two pretty little stools at the end of the bed.

I Saw This...

and almost died... Isn't it the most wonderful thing you have ever seen? My heart almost stopped beating when I saw this beautiful chiffon necklace. It's stunning. So if anyone wants to get me an early Christmas present, or even for an anniversary gift, since I already have my gift from Josh. It would be so much appreciated! Anyway, you can take a look at this necklace, and other pieces by Untamed Petals here.

House of Telsa

I came across Etsy seller House of Telsa while going through the archives of one of my favorite blogs. I adore most everything girly these days, and these rosettes are no exception. I love rosettes on everything from shoes, to purses, to headpieces like these. I just really can't get enough. I'm actually kind of sad that I don't have anywhere to wear one of these beauties... Sigh... I guess I just need to start hosting events so Ican dress up more often. I had a hard time choosing more than a few to show, but pop on over to House of Telsa to see more beautiful vintage inspired pieces!

This one might be my favorite because it's understated enough to wear everyday:)

I love the black and pink combo here, and the veil. It adds a french boudoir look!

This one is a cuff. I wonder if you could add a little pin on the back and put it on a blouse?

I might cry if I got to photograph a bride wearing one of these!

Go take a look at House of Telsa

Ciao!

Peacock

Ever since I was a little girl, I've been fascinated with Peacock's, at one time in my childhood they were my "favorite animal." Like any child though, that changed with the wind, and I was onto another animal within minutes. What fascinated me, like everyone else, is the colors. So bright and beautiful. I remember going to the game farm in Sequim, Wa, and loving when we would see the Peacocks run passed our huge blue suburban. Those were some of the best days of my childhood. I don't know why I love Peacocks so much, I'm terrified of birds. One of these running at me would probably kill me. But they are stunning, and their color inspiration, and feathers make for beautiful pieces.

Here are a few of my Peacock inspired favorites!

I'm in the Holiday Spirit already, I would love to do something like this for our tree.

If I could do my wedding again, I would pick Peacock. I just love the rich colors. So divine!

Bit of a stretch, but I loved it so much I had to put it in. Anthropologie.

Yes, you might recognize this from a previous post. I can't get enough of it. I'm trying to talk my husband into something like this. I don't think it will work...

I want one of these just to wear. Found here

Not technically a Peacock feather, it's "A bird" but hey, its pretty and matches the color scheme.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

La Vie En Rose

La Vie En Rose is one of my favorite songs of all time. It's right up there with Moon River by Andy Williams, and Free Fallin' by Tom Petty. Learning how to sing La Vie En Rose in French is on my list of things to do before I die. I've never been a lullaby person, so when I have children, La Vie En Rose, and Moon River will be the songs I sing to my children (weird huh? that I've already picked something like that out). So imagine the wonder when I came across this letterpress poster while checking a favorite blog of mine Ish and Chi over the weekend. This is definitely a must have for me. I fell in love immediately. I've always wanted to work with paper, and would love to do letterpress, it's a dream of mine. You can check out this poster, and more work at Sycamore Street Press

Hopefully tomorrow I will have a full post! Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Feeling French

Oh to have one of these... It would be like a dream. I've always been fascinated by lingerie. Not the vamped up lingerie that we have been seeing at Victorias Secret for the past few years. The kind that doesn't make anyone but Alessandra Ambrosio, and Adriana Lima look good. I have been pleased to see the company gearing their lingerie more toward the French side of things. Sweet and beautiful, airy, and delicate. I can't get enough of it. I'm doing my first boudoir session next week, and I would love to see something like this. Everyone has a different style. This style I LOVE! You can read about Victorias Secret's new branding here. And check out this beauty from Anthropologie. I just want to be in Paris, sitting on my apartment balcony sipping tea, and reading the paper:)

Keep Calm Gallery

I found this little gem while perusing the Keep Calm Gallery. There are only 8 of these left. The last time I checked, a few weeks ago, there were 15.

I'm off for the rest of the week. It's been a crazy one so far. Tomorrow morning we are getting up at the crack of dawn to move my brother to WSU. And then we are heading back! I can't believe my baby brother turned 19 (yesterday) and is headed off to college. I'm going to miss him so much. When I was a kid I never thought I would say that.

Anyway, take a look at the Keep Calm gallery, it is wonderful. With so much inspiration. I want this print hanging on the wall in my office.:)

I Have To Have One Of These... And Maybe One Of These... And These...

I was absent mindedly flipping through my new issue of VF last night while watching baseball with Josh. The first time I look at magazines I quickly flip through, and then the second, third, and fifteenth time I look at magazines, I read if not every bit, than almost every bit of writing the magazine contains. Back to the story, as I was flipping through furiously (I was in a horrendous mood last night) something red caught my eye. :)

Heaven!

The stats: Mino'x throw back Rolleiflex Af5.0 is a tiny digital replica of the classic Rolleiflex 6x6.
Measuring just 49 by 73 mm, it produces square format images with resolution up to five million pixels., and shtture release even requires that you crank it *sigh*:) $449 from Minox.com

I added that to my Christmas list that already includes a Tiffany's Key Necklace found here

And Hermes' Ulysse Leather Notebook in Flourescent Pink found here

I can dream can't I?

Have a wonderful Thursday!

I've Died and Gone To Heaven

I was perusing aroung Anthropologie and Apartment Therapy today, and before the internet connection froze on me, I found this little Gem on the Anthro site. It comes from the patchwork and paisley collection. I ADORE paisley, and pretty much anything that comes out of Anthropologie is good as gold to me. I would live there if I could. That said, here is the chair I found, and almost fell off my couch over. Josh thinks it is hideous, and my mom would probably ask what planet I am from, but I would die if I had this chair in my house. I don't have a clue where I would put it, but I would find a spot. It be a beautiful chair to use for sessions, but I don't think I could bring myself to use a chair for photos with a $1,600+ price tag. So, if anyone is has an extra 2 grand lying around and you don't know what to do with it. I would be forever grateful if you bought me this chair!

I will be without internet starting I don't know when, until Friday, I think. Our current server wasn't very specific on when they were shutting us off. I can't wait to get a faster speed!:) It will be a wonderful day when I can go onto a site without my computer exploding!

Happy Wedding Weekend

I'm headed home for a wedding this weekend. One of my very best friend's is getting married tomorrow! Tonight the festivities begin with the rehearsal dinner. :) I've got my bridesmaid's dress packed, and I'm ready to go! Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy the sun!

Behold

I came home last night to a husband asking me if I wanted to open my present tonight or on my birthday? "How about tonight? Well, it's not your birthday today... You won't have anything on your birthday.. You're not a big birthday celebrator, though, but whatever you want... How about you open it tonight?"

So I decided to open my present last night, because I knew that for the next 3 days Josh would be following me around asking me if I wanted to open my gift.

I was then banished to the garage for 10 minutes... I thought maybe, just maybe I was getting a puppy. After all, I've received everything from art work, to a kitten. Nope, no puppy, which is probably a good thing, because that's one more thing we can't afford.

Josh sent me on a little scavenger hunt throughout the house with clues to finding my gift. I ended up with a bottle of wine too. :) He definitely knows the way to my heart.
They are a little big, so I'm having to have a 9 shipped in from the closest place they had a pair (California) everywhere else is out in a 9. I'm holding out that those fit because they don't make that shoe in half sizes apparently. If they don't fit life will probably end as I know it.

My favorite part about this whole thing is that I mentioned the shoes in passing while on the hunt for a pair of sandals for last weekends wedding. I had pointed at them and said I loved them. Isn't it adorable that he remembers stuff like that. Another birthday, another great gift that did not dissapoint.

I'm one lucky girl:)
